Project 2
A bridge to the world for Islam

In April 2006 Islam received a portable computer from CCHARM.

The computer has very high specifications, which allow Islam to write and to listen to scanned documents and articles downloaded from the Internet.

Islam was very excited with the gift: this sophisticated tool represents a window to the world, allowing him to improve his knowledge dramatically and to progress in his studies.

We are extremely grateful to the teachers of the School who took his case to heart and helped with the logistics and information in order to buy this expensive computer.

Summary

The objective:
To make the best use of technology to help Islam communicate with the world

Duration:
COMPLETED

Progress:
We can claim that project “Islam” has been concluded satisfactorily – Islam has attended the Joseph Clarke School for the Visually Impaired between 2005 and 2007 and obtained good GCSE grades in Maths and English. In 2007 and 2008 he enrolled in Enfield College to continue his studies in Maths and English but had to postpone his exams because of problems of attendance at the College due to lack of transport. He is now continuing his studies in Maths and preparing GCSE in Economics through the Oxford Open Learning University and Islington College of Education. He is the proud father of two baby girls, Sophie and Aysha born in September 2008 and March 2010. We are extremely proud of Islam and will continue to watch over his family. His studies and achievements were made possible thanks to the computer equipment provided by Ccharm’s generous donours.

Control and accountability:
The project has been constantly monitored by members of the Charity, by IT specialists, by members of the school Islam is currently attending.

Cost of the project:
£ 5,000 fully financed by donations
