On the weekend of 23/24 September 2006, seven volunteers endeavoured to undertake the '3 Peaks Challenge' to raise money and awareness for CCHARM.
The team was organised and led by Jonathan Dunbar (*) and entailed the scaling of Mount Snowdon in Wales, Scaffel Pike in the Lake District and Ben Nevis in Scotland during the weekend.
The event began well, with the Snowdon climb completed in 2hrs45mins.
However, trouble struck on the second peak, which was scaled in darkness with the aid of a few torches.
By the time the team had reached the bottom of the second mountain, one member had fallen ill, and another had incurred a bad sprain.
Nonetheless, despite the long hours of driving, tasteless pasta, and lack of sleep, the other five members of the team were up and down Ben Nevis by early Sunday afternoon, completing the challenge.
(*) Jonathan has been a trusted companion and a "strict" teacher to our young Islam and we would like to thank Jonathan for his loyal support, his great enthusiam to the CCHARM cause. He is also giving an invaluable help to Islam with his stimulating teaching, grasping his attention on many subjects and ideas. Thank you Jonathan and many thanks to your friends for the "Tour de Force".
