Appeal - October 2006

As promised to many of you, I would like to give you a more precise picture of :
a) the number of  people there, which age group they belong to and
b) details of materials and quantities required for the Chechen refugees in the Pankisi Gorge.

Another issue we need to look into relates to women pregnancy. Pre-natal care: a considerable number of women in Chechnya dies at the child birth.  Pre-natal care is absolutely essential, especially for women who survived the extremes of war.

63 elderly each require
UNHCR provides most of the medicines for children. The majority of elderly people suffer some kind of disease, mainly urinary infections and some kind of heart disease, which are not covered by UNHCR.

I hope I am giving you a better idea, shedding a bit of light into this project.  Remember that we are neither the Red Cross nor UNHCR and we do not pretend to have their structure or their organisational skill. However, we will look after the entire programme thoroughly and efficiently asking also for help from local NGOs and doctors that we know. We will keep the project under our own supervision.

We will be there, physically, we will be spending the money, negotiating the purchase of what is needed at the best possible price and help with the distribution.
